WATCH THE ROAD

Black-Box Video Recorder for Vehicles

Security

Authorities – If fitted with multiple cameras and audio, a driver can feel secure in the knowledge that everything will be captured in the event he is pulled over by the authorities (Main Roads, Police).

Event Capture – In the worst scenario, & the driver is involved in a traffic incident, then there is no reason to rely upon frail human memory.  The incident has been captured, and the video can be relied upon to show who is truly at fault.  Video evidence with time stamps is admissible in court.

Alarms – The unit can act as an alarm system for the truck and its load, thereby providing an extra set of eyes and ears for the driver.

Safety

Driver behaviour - Our experience with the installed units has shown that it modifies driver behaviour.  When a driver knows that his vehicle has video capture on-board, there is an incentive to drive safely.

Traffic behaviour – If the vehicle is properly fitted with signs indicating that “This Vehicle Is Under Constant Video Surveillance” then traffic around the vehicle appears to behave differently.  They give the vehicle more space, especially traffic at the rear.

Training – Video captured from significant events on the road can be used in driver safety training in the classroom.

Why Use Video Recording?

There are a number of reasons why an operator might install these units into their vehicles or fleets.  These revolve around SAFETY and SECURITY.
